PBIS Leadership Team - members needed

from Mike Simons:

I am soliciting interested families for a school-based team that will be forming to work on the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) leadership team at Fall Creek. The PBIS framework is a researchbased, effective practice that will help us to identify areas of strength and needs regarding student behavior for Fall Creek. The work that will be done on this committee will involve designing a school-wide plan for expectations around student behavior and the supports that are required to attain the highest levels of success for all students.

Some helpful information can be found on the following web sites:

Several staff members representing a wide range of disciplines in the school have already indicated interest in committing to this team. Representation from Fall Creek families is very important to this process.

The commitment that is required of members of this team includes monthly meetings at a time yet to be determined and three mandatory trainings at TST BOCES on Warren Rd. for the entire leadership team. The training dates will be held on October 13, November 29, and January 31. All meetings will run from 8:30 am (sign in) for a 9:00 start until 3 pm.

You must be able to attend all three training dates to participate on this particular team. We do, however, welcome everyone who is interested in joining sub-committees and we will be soliciting information from the wider community, so you may be actively involved without actually committing to being on the leadership committee.

There is limited space, and for the parent/caregiver stakeholders, we are reserving one or two slots for our 9-12 member team. If you are able commit to the training dates and are interested in being on the leadership team, please reply no later than Thursday, September 29. If you are interested in the possible sub-committees that may come out of this work, please indicate this interest to me or to Sheila Kissiloff (skissilo@icsd.k12.ny.us), our school social worker and PBIS coach.

Thank you!
