Penny Drive and Book Drive for Owego this week

Greetings Families and Friends!

This message is to let you know about a fundraiser we are doing in school. One of my friends is a fourth grade teacher in Owego. I was talking to her the other day, as last week was their first week back, and asked if they needed anything. She immediately said “books!” All of their guided reading books (books that are in sets of 6) were lost due to water, mold, or toxins. Also, classroom libraries were destroyed. We, as a whole school, are doing a “Penny Drive” this week (ending Friday 9/30) to raise money for guided reading books for Owego. All the money will go to their PTO so they can allocate the funds accordingly. I will gladly accept any gently used books and my friend and I will sort them. She will then distribute them to appropriate grade level classrooms. If you have pennies (or any form of currency) or books please send them into school with your student. Classroom teachers are collecting the coins and I will take all the books. Thank you so much for your generosity and support! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Jenny Emerson
