Toner Cartridge Program Update

A special thank you to Kunga Delotsang for his help clearing out the backlog of toner cartridges from the PTA closet. We managed to pack up three full boxes of laser jet toner cartridges and break down a great deal of cardboard packaging.

We still need to sort through 2 boxes of ink-jet cartridges to filter out what  Cartridges for Kids will and will not accept. I will be there tomorrow, Wed, May 29 at 7:45 AM to do that if anyone wishes to help.

To help reduce the burden on whomever takes this program over next year, I ask that you do not drop off any of the plastic tubes full of the ink powder. We cannot recycle those, so they just end up in the trash at Fall Creek (after much additional work and mess).

If you are not sure what will be accepted, please check out the price list.

PTA Cartridge recycling program

The Fall Creek PTA toner cartridge recycling program needs some help in a couple of ways.  The most immediate is help with clearing out the backlog of cartridges that have accumulated in the PTA closet over the year. I am planning to work on this next week (starting at 7:45 AM on Tuesday, May 28th and going until 8:30 and then back again on Wednesday at the same time if needed). A few people to help would make this go pretty quickly (we don’t need that many actually since the closet is pretty small).

I’m really looking at this as a great opportunity for someone to learn the process for next year.  Since Noah and Chip are in the 5th grade,  I will not be around Fall Creek next year to manage this.  It is a relatively easy job, if, and it is a big if, everyone pitches in and follows the instructions on the bin to REMOVE the cartridges from their packaging. The most time consuming (and frustrating) part of this job is removing the donated cartridges from their individual packaging. So, even if you cannot help next week and you have no interest in taking over the job next year, you can make a huge difference in this program by actually doing less and not repackaging the cartridges in individual packaging material (plastic bags are fine, but no cardboard boxes, etc).
