Happy 2018 from the Fall Creek PTA!

The Fall Creek Cinema Movie & PJ Night

Greetings, Fall Creek Families!

Collecting Comfort presents:
The Fall Creek Cinema Movie & PJ Night

What: Fall Creek Elementary will be transformed into a movie theater with 10 different movies playing!

Admission:
Instead of charging admission we are suggesting that each family bring in a NEW blanket, NEW stuffed animal or New book, however all are welcome. The 3rd graders will be creating comforting care packages and donating them to Family and Children’s Service of Ithaca. In order for us to get a variety of items we ask that each grade level bring a certain item.

Grades:
Kindergarten & 3rd grade: NEW Blanket
1st & 4th grades: NEW Book
2nd & 5th grades: NEW Stuffed Animal (sm/med. sized)

There are only 25 tickets to each movie, so come and get your seat early!

How did “Collecting Comfort” come about?
The 3rd graders have been learning about challenges faced by children throughout the world. Together they have decided to take action and do something for kids in their community. Thus, Collecting Comfort was born.

Supervision:
All children must be accompanied by an adult during the entire movie. We also stress that it will be a movie theater atmosphere.

Movies that we will be showing:
Jumanji
Inside Out
Moana
Trolls
Minions
Finding Dory
The Secret Life of Pets
Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope
Matilda
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Lego League Expo TOMORROW!

The Lego League Expo is this Saturday, January 27th, 2018 from 1-3:15 at Duffield Hall, Cornell.

There are 3 teams (with a total of 20 students) from Fall Creek exhibiting at the Expo. In total 28 teams from the region with over 150 kids will be there. It should be a good Expo!

The Expo is open to everyone, so please come support the Fall Creek teams, see the other teams, and participate in activities provided by the Ithaca Sciencenter and other local organizations. Demonstrations will be by FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team and Ithaca High School’s FIRST Robotics Challenge Team (FRC), Code Red.

Location
The Expo will be held in the atrium of Duffield Hall, located on Hoy Road on the campus of Cornell. University (link to online map). The atrium connects Duffield Hall, Philips Hall, and Upson Hall. The main entrance into the atrium is from the parking lot, but you can get to it from every building. The atrium is the size of a large building and several stories tall so you can’t miss it.

Parking
No parking is available in the Duffield Hall parking lot, but you can park in the parking garage located between the baseball and football fields. You enter the parking
garage from Hoy Road and parking is free on Saturdays. Be warned that most other lots on campus are restricted, even on the weekends, and tickets are issued.

The Fall Creek PTA Directory needs more art!

We’re still looking for drawings, paintings, and collages to illustrate this year’s student directory. Just scan (or photograph) your child’s artwork, save it as a large jpeg or pdf, and email the file with your child’s first and last name and grade to fallcreek.pta.directory@gmail.com. Or send it to school and we will scan it and return it to you.

*One entry per child please. Thanks!
