Credit Union

Our weekly branch of Alternatives Federal Credit Union.

Credit Union Overview

Every Wednesday morning from 7:40 to 7:55 students can deposit money into their Alternatives Federal Credit Union accounts right at the school gym.

Students can deposit as little as a penny and as much as $10 (in cash, no limit for checks). Parents and fourth- and fifth-graders serve as tellers. Last year, an average of 54 students deposited money every week.

To open an account for your child, we need:

  • child’s social security number
  • driver’s license (or other photo ID) if you want to be co-signer on your child’s account).
  • $3 for each child they are signing up ($1 of this money will be the child’s initial deposit, the remaining $2 are the fees that the Fall Creek PTA must pay to Alternatives Federal Credit Union for opening student accounts.)
  • your child’s signature

Credit Union on Wednesday, not Tuesday

Sorry everyone, we got a little excited about the promotion. Of course, the credit union is on Wednesday, not Tuesday. Check back here tomorrow.

Credit Union Bingo - Week 3

Yes indeed boys and girls, it’s practically Wednesday and that means CREDIT UNION BINGO!

Bring a deposit to the credit union tomorrow between 7:40 and 7:55 and you will have one more chance to get Bingo! Each week there is a new word, and if you get four words in a row on your bingo card, then you win a prize!

Here’s the rub: if you don’t come to make a deposit one week, then you can’t scratch off that week’s word, even if your friends tell you what the word was! You gotta be there in person, bright eyed and bushy tailed and deposit in hand.

So please come tomorrow and find out what this week’s word will be. There are only five weeks (and chances to win) left.

See you tomorrow.

Credit Union Bingo - Week 2

OK everyone, let’s look at the facts:

  1. You need four words in a row to win at Credit Union Bingo
  2. The prizes for getting bingo are GREAT!
  3. The first four words you get probably won’t be in a row
  4. You get one word for every week you make a deposit
  5. There are only six weeks left of credit union
  6. The next credit union is TOMORROW

So in light of the facts, doesn’t it make sense to make a deposit tomorrow at the Fall Creek Credit Union?

More facts:

  • Credit Union opens at 7:40
  • It’s in the gym
  • You can deposit any amount from $0.01 to $10.00
  • At 7:55 the doors close

See you tmorrow! (Right?)

Credit Union Bingo is Back

Did you know that bingo’s history can be traced back to 1530, to an Italian lottery called “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia,” which is still played every Saturday in Italy?

Well, here at Fall Creek, Credit Union Bingo’s history can be traced as far back as 2010. It’s possible that it existed before that, but the story is lost to antiquity.

So please come out to play Credit Union Bingo. Each week we’ll have a word for everyone who makes a deposit. Get four words in a row, and you win a prize! The more often you deposit, the more chances you’ll have to get Bingo! and win.

We have seven credit unions left this year; see if you can make a deposit every week for the next seven weeks. Remember, no amount is too small! The important thing is to make a deposit.

As usual, doors are open from 7:40 to 7:55.

Hope to see you there!

Credit Union tomorrow (and Happy Birthday to...)

…David Harold Blackwell.

In recognition of the state math testing that starts tomorrow for grades 3, 4 and 5, we’ll be honoring the birthday of mathematician David Harold Blackwell, born April 24, 1919. “He was the first African American inducted into the National Academy of Sciences, and the first black tenured faculty member at UC Berkeley.” (Wikipedia)

So bring your pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and other monetary denominations (US Currency only) to the credit union tomorrow between 7:40 and 7:55. We’ll count it, convert it, add it, and credit your account. (We may even do some multiplication if you bring in multiple coins of the same type!)

See you there.

Credit Union

In recognition of ELA testing going on this week, we’re going  to have a special Happy Birthday Thornton Wilder credit union! Tomorrow morning. In celebration of this renowned man of letters, we will open the doors at 7:39 a.m. and will keep them open until 7:56 a.m.

So bring your money to deposit. No amount is too small!

See you there.

Oh What a Beautiful (Credit Union) Morning!

Spring is in the air! We’re back to school and, almost as importantly, back to saving money.

The credit union doors are open from 7:40 to 7:55. Come deposit any money you may have saved up over the break. Rememer, no deposit is too small.

Also, if you made four deposits during the credit union challenge, you can still pick up your dollar coin. We’ve got Sacagawea coins and Martin Van Buren (The Crazy Hair President) coins to give away.

See you tomorrow.

Credit Union $avings Challenge - Final Week!

It’s the last week of school before break. But more importantly

It’s the final week of the $avings Challenge!

Tomorrow you have one last chance to make a deposit during the challenge. And if you have managed to make at least four deposits over the six weeks of the challenge, you can pick up your coin. Tomorrow.

We’ve got Sacagawea coins to give away. And we’ve got Martin Van Buren (8th President) coins to give away. We may even have a limited number of other Presidential coins to give away, so come early to pick up your coin!

Doors are open from 7:40 to 7:55.

See you tomorrow.

Credit Union $avings Challenge - WEEK 5

We are closing in on Spring Break. AND on the end of the current $avings Challenge!

This is week FIVE of our six-week $avings Challenge. The credit union is tomorrow. Stop by between 7:40 and 7:55, make a deposit, and get one star sticker closer to earning your $1 Presidential or Sacagawea coin. Heck, some of you may already have reached the requisite four deposits. If so, see if you can get five, or even six deposits!

So make a deposit. Remember, no amount it too small! (But $47.38 in pennies would be too big.)

See you tomorrow.
