Fall Creek PTA

holder

What a weekend!

The Fall Creek PTA would like to thank everyone involved in this weekend’s activities – the Hilby show at the State Theatre and the IPEI Spelling Bee at the high school.

The State Theatre show sold out, as did all our bake sale offerings. The final amount raised isn’t available yet, but looks to have topped what we raised last year ($3,600) by several hundred dollars. Thank you to Hilby, John Higby, and Nate the Great for donating their talents to the show and to David Moreland, Mary Waisbrot, and Sally Butterfield for their organizational talents.

Our spellers, the Fall Creek Stingers, made it to the championship round for the second year in a row, but were tripped up by “cis,” which refers to a certain configuration of molecule. Thanks to Mary Ann Erickson, Tom Clavel, and Karen Keller for joining the team and to Richardson Brothers Electric for helping to sponsor our team.

Hilby Bake Sale at the Hilby Show!

Hilby Bake Sale:
Calling all Fall Creek Bakers & Helpers!
The PTA needs people to create tasty treats to sell @ the Hilby Show fund raiser next SATURDAY, NOV. 14th!
For goodies, we need items individually wrapped in amounts you’d expect to pay about $1.  So, 2 cupcakes or small muffins, 4-5 cookies, a couple of med. sized brownies, a couple of doughnuts, etc per baggie would be great!
Also, in the past, we’ve had success with baggies of popcorn or cereal mix like Chex Mix or reindeer food.  We like to try to avoid nuts, or at least make a point of labeling when a food contains any kind of nuts/peanuts or a nut-butter.
There will be a table in the school lobby on Thursday & on Friday (for parent-teacher conferences) on which you can place your donations, or you can bring them to the table @ the State Theatre if you’re planning to attend the Hilby fund raiser.
WE ALSO NEED VENDORS to help sell our tasty treats & merchandise in the lobby!  Please use the contact below ASAP to sign up!
If you have any questions at all, please contact Mary Waisbrot @ 277-6380 or mwaisbro@twcny.rr.com
Thanks for your help & support!

Adult spelling bee coming up! Nov 15 at 2:00pm

Support our adult spelling bee team, the Fall Creek Stingers!
This years IPEI spelling bee is on

Sunday, November 15, 2009 2:00pm at the Ithaca High School

Meet the Fall Creek Stingers team!

Three ways you can help!

  1. Join us on Sunday  at IHS gym and root for our team!
  2. Bring your change and help raise almost 50% of the entrance fee of $375.  Richardson Brothers Electric is providing the $200 and we will be raising the other $175.  5th graders will be shaking a water jug in the morning collecting the money.  We write lots of wonderful grants to IPEI and they have funded Fall Creek with THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS EACH YEAR to support such projects like:  the Dance Residency, 4th graders reading books on tape, Kindergarten bears, Kids Discover the Trail trips for each grade,  1st graders trips to Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitative Home, and so much more.
  3. Think of spelling words for our team so they can practice!
