Fall Creek PTA

The dust is clearing…

Right now Fall Creek Elementary is still a hard hat area, but construction is almost complete.  Here is Kelly Ross at the helm of the reception area of the newly redesigned lobby!  The students’ handmade tiles have been hung and the construction debris is almost gone.

The playground will reopen on Tuesday, Sep 8th (the day before school starts).  Below is a schedule of other important upcoming dates:

• Tues Sep 8th, 1:00-1:45pm: open house for all students and families
• Weds Sep 9th, 8:00am-2:00pm: first day of school
• Weds Sep 9th & Thurs Sep 10th: 7:40-8:30am: PTA’s Welcome Back Coffee at school
• Mon Sep 14th: PTA meeting (5:30pm pizza, 6:00 meeting)

The Latest on the Lobby Makeover

Here is an update on the progress made toward creating a more welcoming school lobby. If you are interested in helping or have any questions, please feel free to contact Jen Demarest (vp@fallcreekpta.org).

Changes so far:

1. Blackboard paint “Welcoming” sign – we will need volunteer “artists” to create new signs for any special or upcoming events throughout the year… contact Jen Demarest if you are interested in helping.
2. NEW Lost and Found – thanks to David Moreland’s idea for a rolling rack the lost items of clothing are easier to spot for both parents and children. * Please note that the clothes will be taken to the Salvation Army monthly if not claimed… so check frequently! On the last Friday morning program of each month there will be a chance for students to visually see the items and claim any that might be theirs.
3. Help our one lonely plant – It will have a home eventually when our seating area arrives (see below for more details) I do need someone to claim this plant as their own and care for it…water, prune, repot, etc. If anyone would like to take this on please contact Jen Demarest.

Changes to come:

1. New seating arrangement – Karen Keller and I have picked out four chairs and an end table to occupy the South West corner of the lobby. We are waiting on approval and delivery. Hopefully, before Thanksgiving.
2. This upcoming Summer there will be some major construction and reconfiguration to the lobby… this has left us “on hold” for any other major adjustments until we can see what we will be dealing with. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please feel free to contact Karen Keller or Jen Demarest
