Family Community Dance (Feb ‘09)
Put on your dancing shoes and come join the Family Community Dance
in the Fall Creek gym!
Thursday, February 5, 6:15 – 8pm
with dance leader Vikki Armstrong and
the fabulous Fall Creek Fiddle All-Stars
Harry Aceto, Dave Davies, Laurie Hart, and Rick Manning
- Learn group dances from many traditions including Hawaiian, Israeli, Russian, French Canadian and Scottish. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Enjoy a cup of coffee and a short dance lesson for adults on Tuesday, February 3, 8-8:30am in the gym.
Five times in the last nine years, music teacher Louise Yavalow has engaged Vikki Armstrong for an intensive two week dance residency which culminates in an evening Family Community Dance with a live band. For the past two years, Louise and Vikki have written and received IPEI grants to cover approx 50% of the cost.
Volunteers are still needed for the dance evening itself: set up, decorating, refreshments, hall patrol and clean up.

2008 Family Community Dance
The Contradictions provided music for 2008 Family Community Dance: Vikki is on the right. The band offers an eclectic mix of fiddle tunes and songs from American and European traditions. (Besides Vikki, who calls dances, they include: Laurie Hart on fiddle, Rick Manning on fiddle, mandolin and vocals, Tom Hodgson on guitar and Dave Davies on bass and vocals.)
